Our pick of the week is broccoli!

A member of the cabbage family, it is well known for being pushed aside on the plate. Cook it with some love and it definitely redeems itself!

Broccoli can be eaten raw, steamed, sauteed and roasted. It's versatility means that it can be easily added to a stir fry or pasta dish, steamed with some fried chilli and garlic or roasted in the oven with some lemon and cummin.

Best of all broccoli offers a variety of health benefits for little calories in return. It is rich in dietary fibre, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and folate.

How to pick:

Choose broccoli that has a firm stem and tight/firm florets. It should have a uniform green colour with no major brown or yellowing spots.

How to store:

Store in the crisper of your fridge.
