Did you know beetroots were consumed in the days of Ancient Rome & Ancient Greece? Long before this colourful root vegetable made its way as an essential ingredient onto every Aussie burger! Pickled, roasted, boiled, raw or Borsch. This is the week of the Beetroot at Maloneys.

How to pick: 

Look for beets that are firm to touch. It the leaves are still attached they should be fresh, green and show no signs of wilting. Smaller beets have more flavour.

How to store:

Store in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge.

How to prepare:

Raw is best. You can't beat freshly grated beets in coleslaw or  in your salad sandwich (pardon the pun!)

Roasted. The classic all time preperation and guaranteed best flavour. Roast in the oven with olive oil and lemon and then serve with sprinkled goats cheese.
